NEW VAPING REGULATION CHANGES

SOME THINGS ARE CHANGING BUT IT WILL BE OKAY!

Effective since November 11, 2020, the Smokefree Environments and Regulated Products (Vaping) Amendment Act has been enforced in New Zealand. Its primary objective is to decrease smoking rates and tobacco consumption, positioning New Zealand as a pioneer in global tobacco control, and this includes vaping.

As of August 2023, the government has introduced new adjustments to the vaping regulations within this act. Here's the essential information you should be aware of:

• All workplaces, including restaurants and bars, are required to be smoke and vape-free.
• Approved Vaping Premises must be situated at least 300 meters away from schools or marae.
• The sale of vaping products to individuals under the age of 18 is strictly prohibited.
• Vaping products must meet specified safety standards before being sold. These standards apply to disposable/single-use products, reusable devices, and vape juices.

What does this mean for you?

By December 21, 2023, all single-use/disposable devices available for sale must incorporate the following features:

• A child safety mechanism*
• Removable battery

By March 21, 2024, all reusable/pre-filled pod devices available for sale must incorporate the following features:

• A child safety mechanism*
• Removable battery
• Nicotine salts cannot exceed 28.5mg/mL

By March 21, 2024, all vape juice flavours must adhere to limitations on flavour descriptions found in the government's provided regulations, allowing only 1 or 2 flavour names from the provided list. You can view the list by clicking here.

 

*A child safety mechanism necessitates at least 2 simultaneous or 5 sequential actions to activate the device and it must automatically deactivate within 10 minutes of vaping cessation.

Will your flavours change?

No, your vape juice flavours will remain unchanged. We will only modify the names of our vape juice flavours to comply with the new regulations. Our aim is to ensure you can still easily recognise your favourite flavours.

Will refillable and pre-filled pods still be available if your preferred device is discontinued?

Absolutely! We will continue to stock the refillable and pre-filled pods you need. The regulations only affect our ability to sell devices that do not meet the new requirements. However, we will continue to supply your refillable and pre-filled pod needs.
